An Italian Love Affair: Our Curated Travel Guide for Unforgettable Experiences
Transport yourself to a Mediterranean summer with our curated guide that features a few of our favorite spots... and don't forget to take your Abaci Lip Balm along for the ride!
Bellagio, Lake Como
A picturesque town often referred to as the "Pearl of Como,” Bellagio is home to breathtaking views, romantic boat rides and an abundance of truffles.
There are not enough words to truly encapsulate Bellagio's beauty. A charming town full of narrow corridors with cobbled streets, it is an unmissable spot for an Italian adventure. Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni is one of the most prestigious hotels in the area with beautiful gardens, Michelin star dining and transcendent poolside lounging.
Not technically Bellagio, but just across the water—situated on the edge of the lake in Lenno—Villa del Balbianello is best reached by boat. Two of its towers are from its original structure as a 13th century monastery, but the rest of the building has since been converted into a villa with panoramic views of Lake Como. If it looks familiar, it may be because you have seen the stunning location featured in Casino Royale or Star Wars!
Where to Eat: Ristorante la Punta, Darsene di Loppia, Hotel Florence
Capri
Fewer places are more iconic than Capri—the playground of the rich and famous. Dating all the way back to Roman Emperor Tiberius, it’s no wonder this idyllic island stands the test of time as one of the most beautiful places to visit.
Work up a sweat by climbing up to see the Natural Arch of Via del Pizzolungo—an unmissable natural beauty worth the hike. On your way down, make sure to make a pit stop at any of the local restaurants or kiosks for a Spremuta di Limone before heading down to La Fontelina Beach Club. While the blue and white striped umbrellas may be the most recognized in Italy, it was actually the deliciously fresh seafood from the restaurant that really caught our attention.
Sailing around Capri by boat is a must to not only explore the renowned Blue Grotto, but also to discover hidden grottos and rock formations. For a truly magnificent experience, we recommend family-owned Quality Time or Sorrento Experience private boat tours.
Amalfi Coast
For unbeatable views that are decorated with vibrant bouganvillea, you can’t beat the Amalfi Coast. The perfect getaway to stroll in historic gardens or peruse Mediterranean ceramics, all while indulging in the best pasta and seafood the coast has to offer.
If you know how and are feeling brave, the best way to explore the Amalfi Coast is by scooter. Start in Positano and make sure to make a stop at the most beautiful fruit stand. Continue your journey passing through the quaint beach town of Praiano where you could stop for a refreshing drink (non-alcoholic of course if you are traveling by scooter!) and maybe a quick dip in the sea. You'll want to end up in Ravello, which is a medieval town situated 365 meters above the Tyrrhenian Sea. The 13th century Villa Rufolo hosts stunningly exquisite gardens that offer extensive views of the coastline.
Where to Eat: Aldo's Cocktail Bar & Seafood, Le Sirenuse (Positano), Conca del Sogno (Sorrento)
